Q.

Whom do I contact to register for a NISM CPE Program?

A.

Q.

Who is eligible to take NISM CPE?

A.

Anyone engaged in the business of selling/distributing Mutual fund products (including distributors, agents, brokers, sub-brokers or called by any other name), has obtained the Certificate for AMFI Mutual Fund (Advisors) Module (till 31.05.2010) offered by AMFI or the NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination (from 01.06.2010) and the validity period of the said certificate is over, such person shall be required to undergo ‘Continuing Professional Education’(CPE), as specified by NISM.

Q.

When does the distributor need to take the CPE?

A.

The distributor gets a six (6) month window to take the CPE. He needs to take the same six (6) months prior to the expiry of his ARN/AMFI Certificate.

Exception for distributors whose ARN is expiring upto December 2010, distributors can take the same within 6 months of expiry too.

 

For example: Ram’s ARN card expired on June 2010, he can take the CPE before Dec 2010.

 

From January 2011, the distributor needs to attend the CPE before 6 months of expiry.

 

For example: Sita’s ARN card is due to expire in March 2011, she needs to attend the CPE 6 months prior to March 2011.

Q.

My license expired in January 2009, can i take the CPE to renew the same?

A.

No, since it is more than 6 months that your license expired, you need to take the NISM MFD examination to renew the same.

Q.

What will the CPE training feature or cover ?

A.

The CPE course syllabus will cover new mutual fund products, regulations and understanding fund fact sheets.

Q.

What is the fees for the CPE?

A.

Fees is Rs. 1,500/= payable to 'National Institute of Securities Markets'. The payment needs to be done by Demand Draft only, payable in Mumbai.

Q.

What are the documents needed from the distributor to register and attend CPE?

A.
  • Duly filled Registration form
  • Photocopy of PAN card (carry original for verification)
  • Photocopy of ARN card/AMFI Certificate (carry original for verification)
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Fees - Demand Draft favouring NISM for Rs. 1,500/-

What if any document is not available?

A.

The candidate will not be able to attend the CPE. All documents as listed above are required to register for the course.

 

Q.

What is the timing of the course?

A.

9:00 to 10:00 am – Registration

10.00 am to 4.30 pm – CPE training

Q.

Do the candidates have to take an exam after the CPE?

A.

No, the candidates do not have to take any exam.

Q.

When will the candidates receive their CPE certificate?

A.

NISM will be issuing the certificates, after verifying all the documents. They are authorized to approve/reject any application. They will send the certificate to your registered address within 20 -25 days of attending the CPE.

A.

Q.

Will the refresher course taken in the past be considered valid or will someone have to take the CPE all over again?

A.

Refresher course taken before June 1, 2010, is valid. For all renewals after June 01, 2010, the distributor needs to take the NISM MFD CPE program.

Q.

How can I renew my AMFI License which is due to expire on October 2010?

A.

You can either take the NISM MFD examination or attend the NISM MFD-CPE.

Q.

What is the validity of the NISM MFD CPE Certification?

A.

It is valid for 3 years from the date of the CPE attended.

Q.

Will NISM renew and issue me my new ARN Card?

A.

No, AMFI has mandated CAMS to renew ARN Cards. On receipt of the CPE Certificate from NISM, the same needs to be sent to CAMS along with the old ARN Card for renewal and issuance of new ARN card. The validity of the new ARN card will be for 3 years.

Q.

What are the regulations for senior citizens?

A.

As per regulation 4 (3) of the Certification Regulations, persons who have attained the age of fifty (50) years or who have at least ten (10) years experience in the securities markets in the sale and/ or distribution of mutual fund products as on May 31, 2010, will be given the option of obtaining the certification either by passing the NISM certification examination or qualifying for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) by obtaining such classroom credits as may be specified by NISM from time to time.

Q.

Are Sr. Citizen exempted from attending the training or can someone else attend in place of a Sr.Citizen due to health issues?

A.

No,  Sr.Citizen are not exempted from CPE’s and neither can anyone else sit on behalf of him/her.
